We all must agree that life, is too short not to enjoy it. That is why we are absolutely thrilled to be part of Papier AU, a box made for enjoyment.
It was one late Thursday night in June when we connected with the founder of Papier AU - Nizza. She was on the hunt for something beautiful to be part of her adventure. We on the other hand, were on the hunt for more people to work with.
After a few chats here and there, we realised it would be silly not to ask Nizza to share her story with you. We love how she looks at life with opportunities. As she would tell you
“This world may show you how impossible it is to reach your dreams, but never ever let it define what you’re capable of doing”.
Here is Nizza, sharing her side of the story on how to keep on going.
1) Before you share the story of Papier AU, tell us more about yourself, Nizza.
I am a 24 year old Filipino, who had a so called quarter-life crisis. I was unsure on what I wanted to do in life. I studied Journalism, Graphic & Interior Design; and now on my third attempt of finishing university with an Associates Degree in Aviation! I am currently juggling full-time uni, two jobs, AND my little business.
I am really creative, as my mum would tell you. But, I’d say creativity has been something that I am passionate about. It is a silver lining, starting Papier AU. In the mist of my crazy schedule, I get to explore my creative side on a whole new level!
2) We love how Papier AU is supporting small businesses AND helping people to discover more locally made products. What else can you tell us about Papier AU?
We love discovering and sharing locally made products. Originally, the idea behind Papier AU is a gift wrapping service. I was actually studying for an exam when I had this idea and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Ironically, I struggle choosing gifts for people so I thought, why not create something that people can customise their own gift box, and ta-da! Papier AU was born. On a side note, I somehow passed that exam!
3) Getting personal is our jam. We love how you personalised every gift box with a handwritten note. Tell us what can people experience from Papier AU?
Every box is packaged with love, ready to be gifted to someone special or to themselves (you know, as they say, “treat yourself”!). Let’s not forget that every box is unique! My long term goal for Papier AU is providing products for everyone. I want this to be something you’ll get excited about when you see the box on your doorstep.
4) Everyone needs a gift box every now and then. Either for themselves, or for someone special. Which one of your curated gift box is your most favourite and why?
My favourite is the Winter pamper kit, I love everything in that box. (And we are in the Winter season after all! Check out the goodies in the box here).
5) We know how hectic it can get when starting your own business. What has been the hardest and the most fun part so far, since starting Papier AU?
Time management and creative block have been the hardest. With my current commitments, it is a struggle to even make time for myself! In saying that, I do see packing orders as my ‘me time’.
I feel every step has been fun. If I must pin down my most favourite part; it would be connecting with other small businesses and helping each other in every way possible!
6) Lastly, if Papier AU were to surprise anyone (literally, anyone!) with a gift box; who would it be and why?
If I had the funds too, it’ll be everyone who supported me along the way.
It is easy to give up when things get hard, especially in this social media world we are in. We compare our lives with what is on the screen and forget that we ought to finish the goals we’ve set for ourselves.
Papier AU may not be the final answer to your purpose in life. All Nizza would hope for you is never stop doing what you love, and always be the best you can be. Have the courage to take chances and fail. As she would tell you from experience that, failure has been a motivation for her to get back up, stronger than ever!
